Diemme and Rayon Vert build the Grappa Verde from archival wool tweed. The available fabric determines how many pairs can exist—and ensures the material cannot be repeated.

The Grappa Verde begins with a roll of fabric.
Rayon Vert designed the new silhouette by combining elements of Diemme’s Grappa Hiker and Movida approach shoe. Diemme then constructed it at its factory in Onè di Fonte, Veneto.
Its defining material is not newly developed.
The sand, brown and orange houndstooth is wool deadstock from Diemme’s archive, originally sourced from an English supplier. Production continued only as far as the remaining rolls allowed.
There will be no restock because there is no more fabric.
That makes limitation a material consequence rather than an invented marketing figure.
The construction moves between hiking equipment and everyday footwear. Waxed military suede reinforces the toe, tongue and heel. A cord and lock replace conventional lacing. Perforations developed by both brands introduce ventilation and pattern, while a leather lining places refinement against the rougher textile exterior.
Underneath sits a Vibram RGS Hiker sole in earth red. Its N-Oil compound uses more than 90 percent petroleum-free ingredients and varies slightly between batches. The inconsistency is presented as part of the material rather than a defect.
That position connects the sole to the deadstock upper.
Neither material promises perfect repetition.
At €449.10, however, scarcity still becomes luxury. An existing fabric is rescued from storage, but its disappearance also gives the shoe greater desirability. Deadstock does not automatically make production sustainable; leather, suede, rubber and manufacturing impacts remain.
What it does change is the design process.
The brands could not specify an unlimited colour and order more later. They had to respond to what already existed.
