Four compact canister stoves, all light enough for fast hiking, bikepacking and minimalist trekking — but built around very different priorities.
The Snow Peak LiteMax strips the concept back to its lightest form. SOTO adds serious wind management and pressure regulation. MSR approaches the same problem with a more conventional, highly refined all-round platform. Primus turns the stove itself into a protected cylindrical object designed around compact storage.
The meaningful differences are not a few grams on a spreadsheet. They appear when the wind picks up, when the canister pressure drops, when a larger pot sits above the burner or when the stove has to move from pack to meal repeatedly over a long trip.
